And just like that it is summer. How was your winter, spring and fall? I am sure that is a loaded question given the how much we do each day, week and month.
My past months were filled with lessons, new skills, graduate school and lots of beautiful growth both. In the same breadth, my months were filled with laughter, joy, family holidays, blossoming friendships, lots of self-care, avid reading and most importantly, time well spent with my husband and children. I look forward to taking any new knowledge and strength into the summer season and beyond. As we all know, learning never stops, growth never ends and with that said, my major goals of the summer are to keep inspiring, motivating, learning, discovering and leading with love, kindness and compassion toward self and others.
As we look forward to the summer months, recognize how you want the season to be. A new season is your new chapter; a time to explore new hobbies (hiking or pottery could be fun!), embrace in self-care, distancing yourself from toxic energy and surrounding yourself with people who authentically care for you. Life is too short and goes by too fast, so make the best of your time and focus on the good, speak kindly of others, and witness how quickly your world alters when leading with healthy mindset. People often strive for less stress, more energy, increased happiness, and healthier life choices, and while all of that is possible, it comes down to your daily thinking. Your mindset will impact your day, month and year. It is that simple. In the following paragraph are some recommendations that may help one achieve their goals on a short-term basis, but with long-term effects even during the short summer season.
-
- Get involved in a local volunteer organization that you care about.
-
- Start journaling, even if it is a few times a week.
-
- Read inspirational books by Brene Brown and Lewis Howes
-
- Make self-care your new jam from yoga, meditation, exercising, or taking up a fun new hobby.
-
- Get outside more! Nature is the brains best medication.
-
- Drink more water. Water hydrates and is a natural stress reliever.
-
- Make a new friend with someone completely opposite from you.
-
- Keep learning and take a class online and attend local workshops.
-
- Be kind. Don’t gossip.
For this summer, choose a new healthy habit or hobby as your goal and tend to it daily. Share it with a trusted friend or family member and write about your progress in your new journal. Never give up on becoming a better version of yourself.
