I have always loved oils from everyday EVOO in the kitchen to the essential oils that play a meaningful role in my wellness routine. Years ago, I was introduced to the beautiful practice of incorporating oils into emotional support and mindfulness. Since then, aromatherapy has become a small but powerful part of my day.
One of my favorite introductions has been the essential oil selections you can find at Whole Foods. They carry nice lines designed for whatever one may be seeking to assist their emotional well-being or overall health. Oils can help inspire peaceful thoughts, spiritual balance, and a sense of calm when used on the skin, in water, or diffused. When added into morning and evening rituals, they can transform even the simplest routines into grounding moments of presence. If you make this into a family ritual, the practice can become a great way to bond with your children while encouraging moments of zen, or as my household calls it, “chill out sessions.”
Here are some of my personal go-to oils:
- Lavender: My everyday companion. I use it on my wrists, in the bath, on my yoga mat, in the air, and even in homemade bath salts. The scent is calming and soothing, a gentle reminder to breathe and slow down.
- Peppermint: A burst of invigoration before yoga or any fitness routine. Its sharp, fresh scent awakens the senses and refreshes my energy.
- Vanilla: The soft notes of vanilla creates an aura of calm and sweetness that shifts the energy of any space. This scent truly feels like pressing pause on stress.
- Rose Hip: I love this oil for my nightly face routine. This oil helps keep my skin hydrated while catching up on the zzz’s.
Essential oils may be simple, but they truly have a magical way to bring presence and intentionality into the day. They add a layer of mindfulness, turning ordinary moments into rituals of wellness and self-care, something we all deserve.
So, here is my invitation to you: explore oils, find the scents that ground you, and let them inspire a little more calm and clarity in your home.
