Mentorship is not just for students or those early in their careers, I have found that having a mentor is a lifelong gift. I have been fortunate to have a few incredible mentors in my circle, each serving their own unique purpose. Some have guided me professionally, and others emotionally or spiritually. Each one has played a part in helping me thrive, especially during seasons of change and growth in my adult years.
What have learned is this: having the right people in your corner matters. A good mentor is more than just a coach, they become a trusted listener, a sounding board, and sometimes even a mirror, gently reflecting back the strengths we forget we carry. In moments of doubt or transition, their encouragement has been a steady hand reminding me of who I am and who I am becoming.
One of the most beautiful things about mentorship is its diversity. I have mentors who challenge me to lead with courage, others who remind me to slow down and reflect, and some who simply remind me to laugh and embrace the whole-self. The variety has helped me grow holistically; as a woman, mom, leader, and human.
Mentorship is not about having or getting all the answers. It is about having someone who has walked the road before you and is willing to walk a little of yours beside you. Their wisdom has not prevented every misstep or mistake I have made, but it has helped me learn from my experiences to grown with refined clarity and confidence.
If you are navigating change or simply feeling the need for self-growth, consider seeking out a mentor. Or better yet, a few. Because no matter your age or stage in life, we all deserve people who see our potential and help us rise into it.
