Life can be overwhelming for we a have a lot on our plates; family, work, personal hobbies, and so forth. Over the year I have learned and am still learning, that taking time to reset is not just healthy, it is necessary. Resets help us realign, recharge, and show up as our best version possible.
Over the years, I have discovered that personal resets are not always glamorous or indulgent; they can be a simple act of self-care that allows one to manage stress and embrace clarity.
In fact, some of the simplest practices have had the biggest impact on my mental wellness. These moments of intentional pause bring me back to the present and remind me to prioritize balance in my busy life. Here are two tips I have found most effective without a giant price tag :
Create a Sensory Ritual:
One of my favorite ways to reset is through sensory grounding. For me, this involves spraying lavender in the air, applying it to my wrists, or playing soothing spa music during the kids’ bath time with lavender diffusing. These small rituals instantly change the atmosphere and help support a place a bliss and serenity.
Engaging the senses can be incredibly calming. Whether it is lighting a candle, enjoying a warm cup of coffee, or sitting outside enjoying nature, sensory rituals are a simple yet powerful way to bring yourself back to the present moment.
Move with Intention:
Sometimes a physical reset is what I need. Taking a short walk, doing light stretching, or even a quick treadmill power workout clears my mind and boosts my energy. Movement does not have to be intense to be effective, it is about reconnecting with your body and breaking out of the mental fog.
When I feel stuck or overwhelmed, even a 10-minute walk outside makes a difference. Feeling the fresh air and moving my body helps me return to my day with a clearer perspective.
The biggest lesson I have learned is that resetting is not about escaping responsibilities, it is about replenishing my energy and clarity so can fulfill those responsibilities. Whether it is journaling for a few minutes, spending quiet time in the kitchen, or simply stepping outside, resets remind me that caring for myself is just as important as caring for others.
In the busyness of life, give yourself permission to pause. A reset does not take away from your time, it gives you back the energy and presence to use it well.
